How to get the free trial edition of Blue Prism on Microsoft Azure

If you are new to Microsoft Azure Marketplace you can sign up to explore Azure with a $200 credit for 30 days, 12 months of free products, and more than 25 products that are always free.

At this point of the article, I assume that you have successfully signed up for a free subscription on Azure or you already have an account to get started…

First, you need to find the Blue Prism Azure Trial on Azure Marketplace using the search box at the top and, once ready, click Get it now to begin. You might need to fill some mandatory details before you can see below page.

So ..follow the prompt to sign in, create an account, or provide additional information. An account is needed to proceed with the Cloud Trial. Press Continue to move into the provisioning process.

At this stage, you have two options –

  • Create – In case you wish to provide your configuration step by step Or you need to align this resource into an existing group of resources you have to support your organisation specific need of security and network options …
  • Start with a pre-set configuration – If you wish to try Blue Prism as standalone you should start with pre-set configuration this will auto-fill some of the configuration you need to select and save few minutes!

Quickly customize your virtual machine

To quickly customize your virtual machine, choose one of the given pre-set configurations as per your need or choose recommended defaults that match your workload.

Ultimately in both the above options will arrive at the Create a Virtual Machine Page where you need to provide resource group details (Create New) along with the Azure specifics Username and Password needed to start the VM at the end of the process and when logging into VM.

Complete the Basics tab then Review + create to provision a virtual machine with default parameters or review each tab for full customization.

You can modify these configurations at any time. The Username and Password are critical pieces of information so you must keep them safe.

Start with a pre-set configuration

After validation is completed press Create at the bottom of the page. This will start deploying the VM. It will take some time to create your resources (Usually less than 10 minutes)

Meanwhile, you can save deployment details or create a template in case you wish to re-perform the same task…

So far so good…Once your deployment is completed you will see a page like below…

Click on Go to resource button at the bottom to open your VM(We call it BPDEMO01) details with options to connect and other operation for your Blue Prism VM

RDP to Blue Prism on Azure

  • To connect to the VM and start using Blue Prism press Connect. This will open up another pop-up window to download the RDP file.
  • Save your RDP file and connect to your VM using the credentials provided during VM creation step.

  • Once you log in for you will see Power Shell is running to configure your VM to run Blue Prism on it

  • Blue Prism does not provide any trial or demo version software for practice. The company has to be a licensed partner of Blue Prism to get their software for training or projects to the purpose so use it fully to gain maximum benefit out of the free window.
  • Blue Prism developer accreditation is not that difficult. You can easily clear it when you understand the concepts clearly. go through the guides included into folders to gain a better understanding.
  • Follow the lab manuals that were provided as part of the installation to learn step by step.
