How to get fully functional Blue prism free trial on azure
There’s no need to purchase a Blue Prism license or connect to an extra mechanism to experience the power of connected-RPA.
The Azure Marketplace trial includes a limited Blue Prism license; users just need an Azure account to get started. Azure customers can experience Blue Prism’s enterprise-grade connected-RPA platform for up to three weeks, which includes 1 resource; 2 sessions; and 15 published processes.
Lets see how can you set-up fully functional Blue Prism’s Trail step by step.
Blue prism is recently in news for its much-awaited free trial version offered on Microsoft Azure Marketplace as a “fully functional enterprise license trial version of Blue Prism”.
The global provider of robotic process automation (RPA) technologies Blue Prism free trial of its connected-RPA platform is designed to be a quick-start deployment to introduce new users to the benefits of a Digital Workforce.
This will not only help many RPA developers to do quick POC or learn Blue Prism by own…but also for medium or small organization to run training needs and do a quick comparison between various available options
As a part of this offered under Microsoft standard contract, you will get fully functional Blue Prism instance on a virtual machine free of charge for the trial period; The users need only pay for Azure cloud consumption….
Trial users will have access to resources, tutorials, and training materials that demonstrate work queues and automation possible through the Blue Prism platform. Blue Prism currently offers integration with Microsoft Azure, Bing and Excel for the Azure Marketplace trial; future trial versions will include additional features, plus integration with Microsoft Cognitive Services.
Blue Prism is offering a single VM based on Windows Server 2016 Datacenter, SQL Server 2016 Express Advanced, and Blue Prism 6.5 installed and configured.
When the machine is provisioned and the user logs in a 30-day license from the previous Monday is installed, meaning users will have at least 3 weeks with the software.
In this blog post, My focus is to outline the steps required to set-up the Azure VM and then start the Blue Prism Trial.

Let’s Get started !!
At this point of the article, I assume that you have successfully signed up for a free subscription on Azure or you already have an account to get started…
First, you need to find the Blue Prism Azure Trial on Azure Marketplace using the search box at the top and, once ready, click Get it now to begin. You might need to fill some mandatory details before you can see below page.
So ..follow the prompt to sign in, create an account, or provide additional information. An account is needed to proceed with the Cloud Trial. Press Continue to move into the provisioning process.
At this stage, you have two options –
- Create – In case you wish to provide your configuration step by step Or you need to align this resource into an existing group of resources you have to support your organisation specific need of security and network options …
- Start with a pre-set configuration – If you wish to try Blue Prism as standalone you should start with pre-set configuration this will auto-fill some of the configuration you need to select and save few minutes!
To quickly customize your virtual machine, choose one of the given pre-set configurations as per your need or choose recommended defaults that match your workload.
pre-set configurations for Blue Prism on AzureUltimately in both the above options will arrive at the Create a Virtual Machine Page where you need to provide resource group details (Create New) along with the Azure specifics Username and Password needed to start the VM at the end of the process and when logging into VM.
Complete the Basics tab then Review + create to provision a virtual machine with default parameters or review each tab for full customization.
Start with a pre-set configuration
After validation is completed press Create at the bottom of the page. This will start deploying the VM. It will take some time to create your resources (Usually less than 10 minutes)
Meanwhile, you can save deployment details or create a template in case you wish to re-perform the same task…
So far so good…Once your deployment is completed you will see a page like below…
Click on Go to resource button at the bottom to open your VM(We call it BPDEMO01) details with options to connect and other operation for your Blue Prism VM
- To connect to the VM and start using Blue Prism press Connect. This will open up another pop-up window to download the RDP file.
- Save your RDP file and connect to your VM using the credentials provided during VM creation step.
- Once you log in for you will see Power Shell is running to configure your VM to run Blue Prism on it
- This will be a single VM based on Windows Server 2016 Datacenter, SQL Server 2016 Express Advanced, and Blue Prism 6.5

- Blue Prism does not provide any trial or demo version software for practice. The company has to be a licensed partner of Blue Prism to get their software for training or projects to the purpose so use it fully to gain maximum benefit out of the free window.
- Blue Prism developer accreditation is not that difficult. You can easily clear it when you understand the concepts clearly. go through the guides included into folders to gain a better understanding.
- Follow the lab manuals that were provided as part of the installation to learn step by step.
